Who does not know her? Sandro Botticelli's famous Venus emerges from a shell on the coast of Paphos, covered by nothing but cascades of sandy-blonde hair caressing her body in gentle waves. Without a doubt, "The Birth of Venus" is not only one of the most famous paintings in the world, but Botticelli also decisively shaped the image of the beauty of the Renaissance, which we still associate with lush, romantically wavy hair. In the summer of 2022, it is now reviving - in the form of a hairstyle trend that has a particularly evocative name: Botticelli Waves.
Natural beach waves, formed by the sea and the summer wind, are always trendy during the warm months of the year, as they increase our anticipation of the upcoming summer vacation or help us to carry that lifestyle into everyday life for a little longer afterward to carry in. But what if you long for a change from the natural styling or the occasion is a particularly chic one? At this point, Botticelli Waves come into play, which is not dissimilar to the Beach Waves, but appear much nobler and is, therefore, the perfect evening styling.
So it's no wonder that Botticelli Waves have recently become the favorite red carpet styling of stars and models such as Kaia Gerber, Adwoa Aboah, and Sophie Turner.
The difference between the new hairstyle trend and the well-known beach waves? Beach waves are natural, slightly disheveled curls that are deliberately distributed unevenly throughout the hair. Botticelli Waves, on the other hand, appear much more "made". The curls are smaller, more defined, and closer together, which creates even more volume in the hair. In general, the following always applies to Botticelli Waves: the lusher, the better!
Botticelli Waves add an instant glamor factor to any style. They come into their own particularly well when the hair reaches at least over the shoulder, but they can also be styled with finesse in slightly longer bob hairstyles. Depending on the natural hair structure, the styling effort is less or more. Women with coarse, slightly wavy, or even curly hair can achieve the trend hairstyle more easily than those who have naturally very straight and fine hair. But even these can be given noble Botticelli Waves with the right styling tools. How this works, we reveal in the following.
After showering, divide your towel-dried hair into individual strands and braid them into small braids that are tied with a hair tie. The smaller the strands, the more defined the curls will be. Let the braided hair dry overnight. The next morning you can marvel at the result, dissolved and wavy. Loosen up the resulting curls with your fingers and fix them with some hairspray. Shine spray can be used for the finish. Finished!
Your hair structure cannot be shaped into curls without heat? Then use the curling iron or wave iron to shape the dry hair into tight curls, then comb it out a little and set the waves. Don't forget heat protection!
